Circular Economy
The concept of a circular economy is gaining momentum as a sustainable alternative to the traditional linear economy. Unlike the linear model, which follows a ‘take-make-use-dispose’ approach, the circular economy aims to keep materials and products in circulation as long as possible, reducing waste and environmental impact.
What is a circular economy?
It seeks to turn waste into new feedstocks for new products or a new life for the old product. The goal is to create a closed-loop system where products and materials are kept in use. Instead of using and throwing away, the life cycle of the product is extended thanks to the circular economy approach. Instead we can try to recycle, redesign, reduce, reuse, repair, renew, and recover no longer used products. It mirrors natural life cycles where dead organic material decomposes to become a nutrient for the next generation of living organisms.
Aiming for circularity at TePe
- We invest in raw materials from renewable sources. When we make products with renewable and/or second-generation materials we can reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and ensure a more circular business.
- A product example is our TePe® Dental Floss, made from recycle plastic bottles—PFAS-free with a fresh mint flavor.
- Production powered with 100% renewable energy.
Conclusion
This approach minimizes waste and promotes the efficient use of resources, ultimately leading to a more sustainable and resilient economy. It helps mitigate environmental degradation and combat climate change. Together let’s use and optimize waste and materials, giving them a second life.
