What is carbon neutral?

Committing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), TePe aims for carbon neutrality in both products and packaging. We have lowered our carbon footprint significantly and are able to offer a complete oral care range produced in a sustainable way. By assessing our carbon footprint, we can know our environmental impact.

Carbon neutrality is accomplished when you have absorbed as much carbon dioxide as you have given off during the life of a product.

First you have to calculate your carbon footprint by assessing how much emission is given off during the entire life of a product from raw material to the end of life. To reach carbon neutrality, businesses will often purchase or partner with stakeholders to receive carbon compensation. Often these reduction initiatives take place, while long-term strategies are implemented internally.

A business strives to operate through efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable buildings, sustainable machinery, supply chain management, and many other relevant channels. Sometimes improvements extend beyond the business, for example to suppliers and waste disposal systems. The goal is to reduce all avoidable greenhouse gas emissions.

Other sustainable factors to consider include:

  • In order to move towards a more authentic sustainable model, companies should not just be purchasing carbon credits to compensate for their emissions. They must move towards implementing meaningful reduction strategies.
  • Climate neutrality encompasses your entire environmental footprint. For example, this means not only reducing all emissions, but also implementing sustainable practices in areas like resource consumption, waste management, and water usage.
